billtee
I am building an O gauge model railway, and wish to run tender locomotives which means I will require a turntable sometimes. Does any manufacturer produce a turntable which can be powered by 12V or. DCC and which is long enough to turn an O gauge GWR Manor locomotive or similar? two tone green
http://www.greenwoodmodelrailwayproducts.co.uk/turntables-24-c.asp I have one and can handle up to a Brit. Look for my thread on St. Davids and there are pictures etc of the turntable in there. Mine is DCC controlled.
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted October 22, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 22, 2016 Midland Railway Centre produce kits for several different lengths and design of turntables. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/116102-price-rises-the-upside/ I've got one on my Green Ayre layout. It runs on 12v with a gaugemaster controller. Jamie

RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted October 23, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2016 Just don't do what I did at Telford last month. I forgot to take the turntable deck with me so one of the team made a temporary one out of cardboard. We slapped a bit of paint on it and glued a spare bit of track on top. Not one person commented on it over the course of the weekend. Jamie
billtee
That's the sort of thing I would do! Anyway, I've found a manufacturer - Greenwood Model Railway Products make a Ransomes 70ft turntable which can be powered by DCC or, I'm guessing, 12V. It's not cheap - £350 plus electrics if reqd - and it's about 21" long. It sounds as though it's just what I want! Bill
JeffP
If it's the one I think it is, it uses a stepper motor all fixed up using laser cut perspex..and is well worth the outlay.
