hayfield
I started my shelf layout some time a go, its in my work room and will be a test bed / storage facility for my locos. I am useing 2 x Wills 2 road engine shed kits as a basis. No region in mind as I can fill it up with either GWR or Southern locos and my collection of LMS and LNER locos are also growing. As you can see its a 6 road shed with staggered walls Once I finally get the walls in line work will have to start on the floor and roofs. As it will be used for steam locos I began to think of what the floor would be made of, Brick or cobbles comes to mind. As for the roof, I will be using Wills tile sheets. I will need to join up to 3 sheets at a time and on the north light side I do not know whether to cut out the apatures or build them up from strips. RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted October 23, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 23, 2009 Most steam sheds that I can remeber as having a 'made' floor had brick although in some cases hardwood blocks were used. Latterday repairs tended to be in concrete as it was cheaper than brickwork and 'modern' steam sheds tended towards having concrete floors.
hayfield
The engine shed is moving along slowly A bit more of the roof done And some of the details have been added, decided to go for a brick floor and inspection pits. Must decide the exact position of the tracks so I can cut out the holes for the pits. Cant find my microstrip so work on the north lights held up a bit
