lofty1966
At what point does one seek medical help for an affliction? Whilst waiting for same paint to harden on my Collett's, I fished out some old Monsters that needed glazing. (replacements glazing were ordered two years ago from Coopercraft....they ain't coming I feel it's safe to say) and luggage grills. It wasn't til I took photo's for here that I realised I had some more already done. I now have 7 (yep seven , count 'em Jim) plastic Monsters. I also have a rather battered scratch build that I picked up cheap which I may one day manage to resurrect and do it the justice it deserves and the remains of a complete lash up that some bozo had completely ruined in ignorance. (It was one of four in a job lot all crappily made but I couldn't get it apart without destroying the underframe. I think it will get a brass underframe at some point and become a Giant) So thats nine in my possession and now the kicker.... I have just acquired two etched brass kits of inside framed Monsters <ahem> So without further ado
Fat Controller
You may have got more than actually existed..There were only six of the inside-framed one, built by BR, IIRC.

Fat Controller
I have five inside framed built. One more, and you'll have the set. I wish they (was it Ian Kirk?) modified the inside-framed tooling to produce the outside-framed one.

I think Ian Kirk produced both inside and outside framed versions, but I'd have to check the stash to make sure.

He did; he did the inside-framed one first, then modified the tooling to do the outside-framed one. Unfortunately, this was done before I acquired an inside-framed one. I assume you mean 493 to 498 (diagram P23). Russell has 596 to 600 as diagram P24 Monsters as well.

lofty1966
Very nice. May I ask who is the manufacturer of the etched brass versions you have acquired? Mallard . Not seen them as they are at my mothers 3500 miles away .
Horsetan
I started off with the Kirk outside-framed one before realising that there was no preserved example. It then took several years to find an inside-framed Kirk kit, but I got there in the end.

No don't shew a photo, as I then probably would be so envious, I would give up totally on my pathetic little projects. Nice to see those though, especially if you had to achieve all this at a remote location from the suppliers. Out of interest, did you have a presumed operational requirement or did you just like this type of vehicle?
lofty1966
Er....I think I have a medical condition called Magpie-itis. It's kinda where you look at something and go "oooooo shiny! MUST HAVE !" The only cure is to be skint and unable to purchase it would seem. As to layout , progress so far has amounted to 16ft of proposed 24ft overall length. I need to get my loft converted (got the plans got the knowhow but not the cash (as I keep buying bl##dy models) The pic is from last spring in my workshop before I got busy again and needed the space. Track plan is loosely based on Ledbury
