Black5
During the recent cold spell, it being not comfortable out in the garage, I thought i`d have a look at putting extra detail on some of my locos. The chosen one was a Hornby Duchess and I started by looking at brake gear and sand pipes. Although there is a set of brake rodding and shoes to two axles via the bottom keeper plate, mine are rather distorted and it would be good to improve things. I had a go at scratch building some in plasticard but they looked a little on the heavy side. If all else fails maybe another try in brass. Mainly Trains seemed to be the place to go to but on searching the blogs they seem to have stopped trading. Iv`e also looked on the Comet site but their brake shoes come with their chassis kits and not as a single item , unless i totally missed something. Can anyone suggest where else i might look? Sand pipes i can make and iv`e got a front bogie etched kit, so it`s just brake shoes i`m looking for at the moment. Many thanks. Jim.
