Wow, hadn’t thought of that…. just prior to the first lockdown, seems a very long time ago now and the feeling of an initial utter disbelief as to what was happening… Unique time indeed. Not that early. I had my first dose in November 2019 - culminating in related heart attack on the last Friday of the month! Popular Post KNP
Sneak preview. Complete with untrimmed ropes and not fixed in place. Buccaneer’s furled mainsail. Thin card base cut to shape of sail outline to give some strength and the white plastic bag moulded with Deluxe Card Glue as a fixing agent to form the sail. Metal rod used for the Jackstay with the sail sowed to it to hold it to but at the same time away from the main mast. Fiddly and a little testing if I’m honest as this push my model building to the limits……not the first version, or even second….!!! One more sail to go, the topsail which looks on paper just as fiddly but……. 15 31 7
RMweb Gold Graham T Posted March 26, 2023 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 26, 2023 That's really quite something Kevin. How on earth do you get a plastic bin liner to look like that? Both the colour and texture are lovely. 1 10

KNP
Well to be technically correct when referring to a barge.... the sun is over the sprit. (name of the diagonal - boom!) 🙂 Edited March 27, 2023 by KNP 3 1

Scuffling around on Getty for something else, I came across this lot and thought they might be of use. They're not all directly applicable, there's a few 'dumpy barges' which were unlikely to have ever left the Thames, but I hope you'll find them all helpful for the typical state of the decks. Unlike rigs nobody ever drew labelled diagrams for deck clutter, so it's rarely modelled even halfway accurately! All 2k, so open in new tab and zoom to get the benefit; and to follow back to the source address (All images Getty, embedding permitted) Obligatory 'Stackie shooting bridge' shot: And of course we'll end with Cambria, who worked until1970 under sail alone, drifting off into the sunset... 22 1

Many thanks for these. They do confirm what I had already thought these vessels ‘looked’ very scruffy and untidy. Nothing was shipshape and Bristol fashion. Mine will have a bike laying on the hatch and plenty of ropes, ladders and other assorted junk!!!!
