RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted March 16, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 16, 2017 I heard about that, so out tried it once with a different card. The machine was having none of it, so on my sample size of one, that's a risky strategy. I have found that to be the case aswell due to having a couple of different credit cards. RMweb Premium Reorte Posted March 16, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 16, 2017 But what happens if the machine is broken, one passenger has been fine £600, since refunded, but he had to pay it, which would be impossible in my case. I've had that happen, without the fine. Well not quite broken but the ticket machines hadn't been turned back on after Waverley had been evacuated for something or other (I turned up just as they were letting people back in, and even with half an hour they didn't get up and running). On the train they were quite happy to accept that explanation for no ticket, although since the train had started there they must've known what the situation was (I had a change later on but it let me pick up my tickets from there). RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted March 17, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 17, 2017 I would be very wary about the 2 hour window. I was certainly caught out by it a few weeks ago at Leeds. Better safe than sorry. Jamie
