A couple more layouts appearing at Goathland this year, both minimal space but very scenic N gauge layouts from RMWeb member Kes.

Matlock Road

Matlock Road is a fictional n gauge layout, featuring a rural terminus station, good yard and private sidings for a coal merchant and a scrapyard. The back scene includes a viaduct which is controlled by a shuttle unit, so something is always on the move.  6 trains can be stored in the fiddle yard, ready to emerge under the viaduct and into the station. The Buildings are old Prototype Models kits, and Metcalfe Industrial buildings modified to suit. The viaduct is a Scalescenes download.  There are many magnetic uncouplers so the whole layout can be shunted.  The layout is only 39” by 12” and was designed to fit on an ironing board. It has its own inbuilt lighting rig.

Four Arches Halt

Four Arches is a fictional n gauge layout built in an area of 27” x 24”. It was built as a layout to take away on holiday in my motorhome, and it even folds in half for storage! The single line exits the scene under two bridges which have a canal across them in an aqueduct. It makes a change from the usual bus-on-a-road scenario. Behind the scenes are three lines arranged as loops so three trains can be run in succession. There are magnetic uncouplers, so some shunting is possible.

One final addition to the layouts list is Ferme Du Pont making a welcome return, a small section allied light railway in northern France towards the end of WW1, modelled in 7mm scale, 14mm gauge.

Hope you are all having a great time up there and that lots of visitors are enjoying the exhibition.

Sorry I can't make it this year (it's flippin' Gnosall Festival weekend!).

Please post some photographs if you get chance, especially some of the cakes!

All the very best,

John.

Called in yesterday having visited the NYMR 60's event (which was a tad disappointing, though sad to here the Gresley's were trashed overnight)).

Well impressed at the standard of layouts. Kept returning to Rochdale Victoria just to watch then Bury Bug working in and out of the station. Halted just long enough for the driver to walk to the other end, just as it was at Bury before the trams came along.

Well done all

Well that's the Goathland show over for another year, and a very enjoyable and successful one it was, marred only by the sad news of the destruction up the line at Pickering.

We had one of our best attendances yet and there wasn't a quiet moment all weekend.

Anyway, thank you to all who attended and we hope you all enjoyed the show, for those who couldn't get, here's a few photos of some of the layouts.

HI All,

Just wanted to say big thank you to Paul and the Whitby & district club and all the helpers that gave up their time. The Wainthrop Team had a great weekend and one show that i always look forward to exhibiting at as we always have a good laugh, great food, great cakes and a short walk to the other end of the Village (via the ice cream shop) to see the full sized stuff.

Thanks again and look forward to exhibiting there again.

Cheers

Simon

And getting barred from the hall for not bringing us all one back...

If my phone had had a signal I would have phoned and asked if any one wanted one. :-)
