Seeking a source of brakewheels or similar

Recommended Posts

I don't model British and so I am not aware of many of the small firms making components in the UK or stockists of American 'bits'.

I have several items of stock with missing brakewheels or similar .... here is an example ...

It appears to be about 6mm diameter - do any British firms make a nice quality item like this? Or maybe someone imports something similar from the USA?

I need other smaller sizes as well.

Many thanks

Looks like you might get away with using a press stud?

You could try http://www.wizardmodels.co.uk/FrameSetShop.php?DM=wizabout to see the supplier  - then http://www.wizardmodels.co.uk/images/51lcomp/phswlb.jpg to see the wheels - If you get lost look under Product type -  Wagon components in brass

There are several sizes of handwheel there, although none seem to have the same structure as you want. You could add a disc or washer at the centre to get nearer your design, I am just a satisfied customer!

Best wishes with your sourcing!

A bit left-field, I know, but there might be something on here to suit:-

Don't worry too much about having different ones on either side, or opposite ends of the same wagon; it happens enough on the prototype.

Another possibility are the Cambrian injection-moulded plastic ones:-  http://www.cambrianmodels.co.uk/accswheels.html
