Mad McCann
Currently I'm floating small layout ideas around the 'mental project department'. One such idea I have is some kind of engineers' yard, somewhere in the Glasgow/W Scotland area during the above period. I have two boards, roughly 48" x 18". What I would like to do is develop something plausible with a sufficient operational interest to sustain about 2 hours operation. What I also need to consider is the kind of function undertaken by such a depot and the vehicles, stores, equipment which might be required. This is partly inspired by a couple of sidings and what I believe may have been a railway timber depot close to Muirhouse Junction that I used to pass in the 1978-9 period. There were some pretty old wagons in there from time to time but the immediate environs didn't look like they'd changed much in 20 years. That's the basic premise I've developed but putting some meat on those bare bones is going to require a bit of outside advice, hence my throwing it out here for thoughts. Cheers. Dave.
