RMweb Premium cctransuk Posted August 23, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 23, 2017 Way back in 2008, on the old forum, I responded to an enquiry concerning the provenance of the old K's LOWMAC kit as follows :- Yep, K's did a LOWMAC; I've got one too.I've identified it as an unfitted LNER Dia. 173 LOWMAC EP.I'm afraid that I haven't yet got round to building it; (or designing the transfers for it). Well - yes and no! I now have Volume 4B of Peter Tatlow's 'LNER Wagons', and can give more accurate information. It best represents an LNER diagram 173, designated by BR as LOWMAC EP, but that diagram was vacuum-fitted and did not have the shallow side angles to the deck, as moulded by K's. That said, it will be quite easy to file off the angles, and fit vacuum brakegear at each end; the 12mm. wheels that K's supply will need to be replaced by 11mm. ones. Moreover, the LNER built some of these LOWMACS for the LMS, designated by BR as LOWMAC MO, so my second K's kit will be numbered as such. Regards, John Isherwood.
