RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted September 12, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 12, 2017 Hi, The TurboTrain prices in USD have been up on the Rapido Trains website for a while now, so I had a 'ballpark' starting point: https://rapidotrains.com/n-turbo-us/ I had been just about to order direct anyway when I noticed the RoS banner ad on here. Regards, Gerry.
Gerald Henriksen
No prices and only a 2 week deadline to make the orders? I live in Canada, and my local hobby shop lists the pre-order prices for most products in US$ given that most stuff comes from the US and there is no way to predict the US$ -> C$ exchange in advance. I assume it is a similar issue here, where the US$ -> £ is too unpredictable to make a confirmed price at this point. The US$ amount can be found on Rapido's website for all announcements, however here are the current prices: 1) HO Modernized Amtrak F40PH / Amtrak Cabbage - $299.95 (DC/DCC/Sound) - $199.95 (DC/Silent) [note the cabbage comes with motor] 2) HO SW1200RS - $325 (DC/DCC/Sound) - $225 (DC/Silent) 3) N TurboTrain - Check website given the various options available: https://rapidotrains.com/n-turbo-us/ 4) HO FA-2 / FPA-2 - $325 (DC/DCC/Sound) - $225 (DC) 5) HO Dash 8-40CM - $249.95 (DC/DCC/Sound) - $159.95 (DC) 6) HO 3800 Hopper - Single car $49.95 - Six-pack $289.

In case you, and anyone, else missed it Rails was announced as a Rapido retailer in a previous Rapido newsletter: http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Rapido-News-Vol--88---Loads-of-Project-Updates.html?soid=1101318906379&aid=EB_w9n2ql2c#a8
woodenhead
Maybe a good case for showing the US$ price in the webpage so you can work out an approximation - allowing of course for fluctuation.

RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted September 12, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 12, 2017 Hi again, 3) N TurboTrain - Check website given the various options available: https://rapidotrains.com/n-turbo-us/ Yup, exactly the same link as I posted. In case you, and anyone, else missed it Rails was announced as a Rapido retailer in a previous Rapido newsletter: http://myemail.constantcontact.com/Rapido-News-Vol--88---Loads-of-Project-Updates.html?soid=1101318906379&aid=EB_w9n2ql2c#a8 Yup, I avidly follow the newsletters so I was fully aware of the relationship. Until I saw the banner ad I hadn't seen a specific order page on the RoS website so I was happy to be able to use the link. Hi, With the ever changing exchange rate, the prices will be applied once the stock has arrived to ensure accurate prices. We will always endeavour to give you the best possible price. Should the price ever be a problem there is always the option to cancel. Which is why I used the term 'ballpark', I've been ordering from various countries for a number of years - including a couple of the GMD-1s directly from RT. I specifically wanted to avoid giving the impression the Rapido Trains USD pricing was an absolute, but rather a starting point. Regards, Gerry. RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted December 9, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) Hi, On a lighter note I noticed an image during the recent BBC documentary on the Voyager space probes, still available where the iPlayer can be used: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09gvnty/storyville-the-farthest-voyagers-interstellar-journey at time index 57.00, a 3-car TurboTrain!, one of the images on the golden record carried. This guise, as I can't find the actual image to link to: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4162/34406531102_f1ababb5e3_b.jpg A quick Google revealed: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/galleries/images-on-the-golden-record/ Train, Gordon Gahan Regards, Gerry. RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted February 18, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 18, 2018 Hi, Noticed the new batch of GMD-1s have been added to the RoS website, pre-order duly placed for a green livery. I'd been misguidedly prudent with the first batch and only ordered these two beauties: Delighted with the opportunity to correct such shortsightedness. Regards, Gerry. RMweb Premium steam-driven boy Posted November 15, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 15, 2018 Hi, email notification from RoS Wednesday, arrived Thursday lunchtime: Hopefully I should put it together and run in over this weekend, although I'll be saving myself as much as I can for the Warley show... Enjoying the product guide and suitably touched by the dedication to the memory of Mike McGrattan. Regards, Gerry.
