RMweb Premium iands Posted October 18, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 18, 2017 Hi All, I recently joined RMweb as a new member. I'm still finding my way around the web site and it has taken me a little while to find this section to post some information about myself and how I found out about the site. I'll start with the last bit first as that is the easier bit. I was told about the web site by a very good friend of mine as I'm recovering from a 6 month battle with a serious illness (cancer), and he thought all the photo's at least might help me with the recovery process - he's not wrong there! Some fabulous photo's that bring back lots of memories. And now the boring bit, something about myself - my name is Ian (but you have probably already sussed that out), and I'm 60 years old. I am rapidly approaching 44 years service in the rail industry (30 years with BR/RAILTRACK/NR), and the rest with a consultancy firm after I was made redundant by NR (a victim of Project Violet), well I say a victim, but in all honesty, I've not looked back since being made redundant. My time has always been on the S&T side, with a little over 4 years on signalling and the rest on telecoms. When I get more used to the web site and understand better how/where to do things, I'll share some photo's on the web site that hopefully some of you may find interesting - most are "Infrastructure" related, but some do have trains in them. That is probably more than enough for now, and please accept my apologies if I haven't posted this in the correct area - any feedback on this and how/where to proceed in general on the site will be most greatfully accepted on my part. Regards.

RMweb Premium iands Posted October 20, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2017 Hello Ian, Welcome to the forum. Jeff Thank you Jeff, and thank you to all the others that have welcomed me to the forum. Not yet got a model railway built (plan was for a 'OO' layout), as I've encountered stiff opposition from the "planning authority" in commandeering a spare room. However, I broached the alternative suggestion of a "garden railway" instead, lo and behold this was accepted! So planning a small narrow gauge (SM32) for the garden with a live steam loco from Roundhouse. Regards, Ian.
Ohmisterporter
Welcome to the forum Ian and I hope the garden railway goes well. There is plenty of advice and inspiration on here.
