leopardml2341
Hello Folks, My aged B&D Powershot Staple Gun e.g.: http://idi.tightspindev.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Powershot-white-1024x1024.jpg Has finally given up the ghost. Can anybody recommend, having used, a gun of similar capability. This one would fire staples and nails upto 14mm into softwood. Thanks in advance. RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted November 24, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2017 Went for broke quite a few years back and bought a Rapesco, not exactly over used, but it's had some hammer when in service, has done all I asked of it and has a good kick. Mike.

RMweb Gold teaky Posted November 24, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 24, 2017 Perhaps it isn't what you're looking for, especially since it is electric and corded, but I am very happy with this.

leopardml2341
Try Screwfix. From my OP: "Can anybody recommend, having used, a gun of similar capability." Not sure how your suggestion meets that?
leopardml2341
Well, over 2yrs on and I've not found anything anywhere near as good, so I thought I'd resurrect this question. Any suggestions anyone?
RMweb Gold 08221 Posted January 19, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2020 I bought a Stanley hammer staple gun from screwfix a few months ago, it’s been very good so far.
Dickon
If you're happy with a manual gun, the Arrow T50 is virtually indestructible and capable of firing 14mm staples into solid hardwood. I've had two of them one of which is still going strong after 40 years building and repairing wooden boats. They cost about £30 and are worth every penny. You can get them from Screwfix, Travis Perkins or almost any good ironmonger. Edited January 19, 2020 by Dickon

Thanks but I really need a trigger type. 58 minutes ago, Dickon said: If you're happy with a manual gun, the Arrow T50 is virtually indestructible and capable of firing 14mm staples into solid hardwood. gordon s
We probably have the same gun. There is one on eBay, but the guy wants £25..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Decker-Powershot-A5753-Staple-Nail-Gun-with-Case-Wire-Attachment/402018202886?hash=item5d9a26f506:g:SYYAAOSwApReChKY Tread carefully on Amazon. Interesting comments on this one, particularly the last review. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Arrow-Fastener-TruTac-Heavy-Duty-Staple/dp/B0001MQHZ4/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=A5753&qid=1579459667&sr=8-8 Here's a link to the 5700. https://arrowfastener.com/tool/5700/ Edited January 19, 2020 by gordon s

Mahogany, teak, iroco, oak, ash and beech. The biggest jobs were cold moulding the hull of a 26 foot sailing boat and laying a ply deck on a 30 footer. It's also great for laminating deck beams and ribs. I don't know the plastic version but as I said earlier the original metal one is virtually indestructible. Just make sure that you clean it thoroughly if you get it coated with glue. It's easy to dismantle, which a plastic version may not be. leopardml2341
Thank You! I'll be off to Screwfix on Wednesday then. I'm wanting to use it with both Ash and Oak.

I'll try the Arrow T50 as suggested by Dickon; of course I'll report back too.

Still going strong and currently getting a bashing constructing baseboards. One thing to note is that the box of staples supplied with the stapler are not the best quality and actually don't fit too well. I have found Tacwise staples and brads to be better quality. I have used several sizes and they are available at Screwfix and Toolstation and no doubt numerous other retailers. 1

Bonus was a 10% off voucher for Screwfix dropped on the mat a couple of days ago as well.
