gismorail
Most enjoyable and interesting ....I wonder what Health & Safety would make of the manual braking of a moving wagon by an employee running alongside and 'skipping' over track work......a massive 'trip hazard' !!!! RMweb Gold highpeakman Posted January 28, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 28, 2018 A nice bit of film for wagon enthusiast, and others: http://www.eafa.org.uk/catalogue/205507 Found another film on that site about the Southwold Railway. Posted it on a new thread as it is not the same subject as Whitemoor. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/130626-southwold-railway-old-film/ Thanks for the site reference. Fat Controller
Most enjoyable and interesting ....I wonder what Health & Safety would make of the manual braking of a moving wagon by an employee running alongside and 'skipping' over track work......a massive 'trip hazard' !!!! A job with an appreciable risk attached: bad enough during the day, but imagine night-time, with inadequate lighting. As recently as twenty years ago, I saw 'chasers' at work at Lille Deliverance- they had to get one end of a shunting pole trough the loop in the brake-release cable.
RMweb Gold russ p Posted January 28, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 28, 2018 I worked on the down hump at tees on my YTS can you imagine nowadays putting a 16 year old kid in an environment very similar to the film nowadays! I understood the danger back then and found it fun
