Found another film on that site about the Southwold Railway.

Posted it on a new thread as it is not the same subject as Whitemoor.

Thanks for the site reference.

Most enjoyable and interesting ....I wonder what Health & Safety would make of the manual braking of a moving wagon by an employee running alongside and 'skipping' over track work......a massive 'trip hazard' !!!!

A job with an appreciable risk attached: bad enough during the day, but imagine night-time, with inadequate lighting. As recently as twenty years ago, I saw 'chasers' at work at Lille Deliverance- they had to get one end of a shunting pole trough the loop in the brake-release cable.

I worked on the down hump at tees on my YTS can you imagine nowadays putting a 16 year old kid in an environment very similar to the film nowadays!

I understood the danger back then and found it fun
