Using Select as a slave

I've got two selects as slaves to an elite they are connected by XpressNet cables and plug in points by twisted pair cables

I can't find the instructions in Hornby manuals for setting them up.

Am I right in thinking that only 99 locos can be used and they must be in the 00XX addresses for control by a select

From the Select manual:-

"The Select may also be used with the Hornby ELITE advanced controller as a "walkabout." However, it should be remembered that the Select is preprogrammed with address ranges for locomotives (1-59) and accessories (61-99) which may not be suitable for operations with your ELITE system and layout."

No, you can't do that and no there is nothing else you can use as a Slave.

 

When I've used the Elite and Selects as walkabouts I just make sure all the addresses are 1-59 on the Elite......thats still a lot of locos anyway!!!

You can still name them in the Elite as well.

It just means its easy to use the two types of controller as both can use the two digit address.

I'm still getting my head round DCC , can you actually save locos on the elite?

I don't think I'll have 59 locos for a while so should be fine

If you download the Select manual from Hornby it tells you all about walkabout mode, how to rig it both from an Elite or another Select.
