Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. Well now Diddy Yard is nearly complete I scrounged about and found some MDF off cuts. It's not good to have foamboard, mdf etc lying about when I'm about according to my wife, anyway I thought what can I build on this. I have thought about building something for my small GWR 0-4-0 loco I received from my wife a while ago so a tiny GWR based micro layout it is. The layout is 14 inches long and 8 inches wide and has a halt station capable of hold a small 4 wheeled coach and another siding which can hold two wagons. It's also a chance to use up some bits of track, building's etc I have lying about. Here is a photo: More Soon. Jerry. Guest ShildonShunter
Hi Jerry I'm liking this already and a great title looking forward to seeing your progress. Edited March 11, 2018 by ShildonShunter
Jerry1975
Thanks Kevin. There will be a few small layouts being built as I have a lot of offcuts of track and finding some mdf offcuts will help too. Jerry.
luke the train spotter
Love the idea of a small halt station. There are so many un modelled halts and most layouts dont feature them but there were loads scattered across the entire of the UK so it is great to see you including one. Look forward to seeing this layout develop.
Guest ShildonShunter
Jerry what make is your halt station as I would not mind using one in one of my layouts.
Jerry1975
Thanks for your kind replies Luke and Kevin. The halt is a Wills kit and I just omitted the right hand ramp so it would fit, it's 13.5cm long platform bit and 22.5cm long altogether ( ramp to ramp ). Mine with the ramp omitted is 18cm long altogether. My little layout is not modelled on anywhere but I do like these little halts. I have just been playing, I mean testing the layout and it runs great, I'm going to use a fiddle stick fiddle yard on the left-hand end. Jerry. Guest ShildonShunter
Thanks Jerry for explaining this need to look into buying a Wills kit.
Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I have done a bit more to the layout today, made a low relief tunnel and started the backscene, I also made a little hut that came free with a magazine which needs touching up a bit to make it look a bit better. Here is a photo: I'm going to make a small embankment next to tunnel and complete the backscene. More soon. Jerry.

luke the train spotter
Looks great Jerry. That back scene will give the halt a nice rural feel to it.

Here is a photo of work so far: WP_20180315_10_15_28_Pro.jpg More Soon. Jerry. I like the wall post box, smashing little detail. Have you considered moving the wall "in" to provide space for a postman's van, bike etc? Regards,
Jerry1975
Thanks Luke. The Halt is not stuck down yet, I was trying out different ideas, wall, bushes or trees, I'm trying to get that rural look and slightly run down. Jerry.

Jerry1975
Hi Everyone. I have done some work on the layout today and yesterday, here are a couple of photos: Overall view showing start of ballasting, wall moved back a bit, the white van will be replaced with a post ban and some detailing on the halt station. Close up shot of station / halt details. More soon. Jerry.
1722
Very nice Jerry. I'd be tempted to open the backscene up on the right hand side, enabling through running? I must agree that the wall post box is a cracking idea.

Jerry1975
Thanks for your replies guys, I may make it a through station at a later date but for now its a terminus. I'm going to do some more work soon, add a home signal, finish ballasting etc. More soon. Jerry.
sb67
Nice work Jerry, I like the idea of a small halt. I think it would look good as a through station with maybe a Heljan railcar or a class 121 running through. Steve.

There are examples of this, where either due to closure or planed extensions not being built you ended up with a very modest terminal. The Colonel Stevens East Kent Light Railway Wingham Canterbury Road Station being a case in point. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/w/wingham_canterbury_road/ Regards, d&h

HonestTom
I like this layout. It's very evocative of the light railway - I can just imagine some tiny antiquated tank engine playing with a few trucks while the one passenger awaits his train.
