44558
Quick question. Which is the best glue/ adhesive to add on detailing parts to a class 14 and western.
John Tomlinson
On my 4mm Westerns I seem to remember using some fairly fresh superglue. All the Heljan locos I have seem to have their detailing bits made of some plastic that doesn't really take to any form of glue that well, I also tried several plastic solvents which had little effect. My conclusion was that at least applied carefully it served to reduce the play in holes into which the detailing parts are fitted, although none of the bits are truly firm. John. RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted October 3, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 3, 2018 Another vote for superglue - go for the thicker variety rather than the really thin runny stuff to avoid tragedies And check parts fit with a dry run before offering them up with glue involved.......! gismorail
I have found that 'Zap' glue range works well on this type of plastic. The thicker type is best used in very small amounts
44558
Thanks for the info. Did the zip glue trick. The teddy looks complete now. Just a western to do at the week end.
