RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted October 16, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 16, 2018 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-45871379 Personal computing would probably have been different without him and who knows what break throughs have been made because of personal computing. Money can't buy good health and he died from complications of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma aged only 65. RIP Paul.
Ozexpatriate
The news about Paul Allen is a very big deal locally. A significant portion of last night's local news was dedicated to his passing. He has owned the Portland Trail Blazers NBA franchise for 30 years and was instrumental in building a new arena, and keeping the franchise in town. As the owner he was a regular attendee at games and well known locally. The basketball regular 2018/2019 season is about to start. He also owned the Seattle Seahawks NFL franchise since 1996, keeping them in Seattle. His death casts some uncertainty around who will subsequently own these teams and whether at some point they might want to move them to a new market, even if that is a remote possibility.
