RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted October 29, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 29, 2018 I am slowly building a dogbone DCC layout in HOm, i.e. 12 mm Peco track. It has several portable boards. Last time I had a running session I forgot to electrically connect one of the balloon-loop baseboards to the next section, which I only realised when dismantling. The weather was warm and dry (it was outdoors but in shade) and electrical contact was never an issue. Even the auto-reverser worked flawlessly, despite the bus only being fed through rail-joiners from the next baseboard. But I would never recommend such a chancy setup. We spend a lot of money on locos and rolling stock. Making the track as electrically robust as possible is cheap and maximises our chance of enjoying that investment.
