shortliner
For my 2010 layout, I need (fairly urgently - and yes, I know it may be delayed by the Icelandic eruption! ) an Atlas N gauge plate girder bridge # 2548. I need it to make the gantry that is fitted across the entrance to the float bridge. If you can help, please email me at chacmool at lineone dot net
sunshine coast
Jack, why not the Peco N plate girders ???? Regards Trevor ..
shortliner
Because it needs to be like a flat-topped I-beam but with vertical panels - and the Peco one has a curve to the top
Adrian Wintle
Jack; Is that the code 80 bridge (one piece moullding)? And do you care if it has track? I believe I have a surplus one (need to check tonight), but it likely has had the track removed. Adrian
RMweb Gold Tony_S Posted April 20, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 20, 2010 Modeljunction appear to have them in stock. I don't know what will happen if you go past the confirm purchase bit but worth a try. Link Tony
bertiedog
Only an idea, Peco upside down?, I used them on a crane platform like that... with the channel trimmed away, and new "top" edge. Stephen
alcoRS1
I think I might have one you can have, I will have to look though my N boxes, give me 7 hours and I will have an answer
bertiedog
Is it for this type of gantry crane over dock approach (NY type)?.... the bottoms being curved would match the braces. Stephen
shortliner
Roughly halfway down this page http://members.train...loco/errhs.html is a photo of #19 Boxcab, and immediately under it is a photo of the same loco and the gantry - I don't want to post it in case of copyright problems, but this is what I need the plate girder for. Thanks to you all for replies so far
Adrian Wintle
Jack; Looking at the pics, I think you would find the Atlas bridge disappointing. It has limited detail on the inner faces (you could probably do better making one out of plastic card and strip) . You might do better with the Walthers or Atlas C55 girder bridge kits, although they have rounded cornes at the ends. It does appear that the outboard (carfloat) end of those girders is angled down. Atlas C55 https://secure.atlasrr.com/mod1/itemdesc.asp?ic=2080&eq=&Tp= and click on the image for a larger picture. Atlas C80 https://secure.atlasrr.com/mod1/itemdesc.asp?ic=2548&eq=&Tp= and click on the image for a larger picture. Walthers http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/933-3820 it can easily be built single width You might also look at the 40' and 80' Micro Engineering girders from their deck girder bridge kits: http://www.nscalesupply.com/MEE/MEE-Structures.html Adrian
shortliner
The C80 one should be fine, the back will be against the backscene and will not be seen - It will be semi-low relief around the opening in the backscene
alcoRS1
The It is in the mail, do not know how long it takes, specially with the iceland volcano.
