RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted November 11, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2018 Hi all. I have successfully used deluxe materials ballast magic powdered glue with oo tracklaying. I am wondering whether it works effectively in o gauge. Im imagining a payoff between a greater volume of glue and ballast versus a higher mass of track to hold in place. Any o gauge colleagues usex it and willing to share their experience please?
RMweb Premium ColinK Posted November 11, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 11, 2018 I tried it for the first time a few days ago, not for ballasting but to surface a platform with Woodland Scenics coarse cinders (probably about the same size as 0 gauge ballast. I measured the ballast magic and cinders to ensure I got the 1 to 7 ratio as per the instructions. Laid the mix on the balsawood platform top and sprayed it with the Deluxe Materials water mister which came in the kit. The next day I found that some areas had stuck down, but the majority had not. So a failure really. Had to go over it all with the usual dilute pva which worked fine.
RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted November 11, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 11, 2018 Thanks for posting. I do think this is a product to be used with a depth of material and not suitable for a thin layer over large areas
RMweb Gold markjj Posted November 12, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 12, 2018 Cascamite wood glue works much better but it doesn't have a reversible feature as it's totally waterproof.
