advice on signalling my late 80s scottish 00 gauge layout

Recommended Posts

Hi there

i know there are people on this forum that are far more knowledgeable about signalling matters than me, i am basically looking at what signalling would be required to help make my layout appear more realistic as well as where the equipment should be located.

the trackplan for the layout is shown in the sketch below, any questions please feel free to ask. The only thing to add to the sketch is that there is a small signal box located beside the siding next to the exit to the fiddleyard.

As the infrastructure was altered substantially in the 1980s it is likely the signalling would have been too. So need for a question - do you want any signals at all? (You could get away with a couple of groundframes and the odd noticeboard or two if you so wished.)

i guess i wondered whether i would need any shunt signals or colour light signals at the end of the platform for the trains to leave, would AWS ramps be required anywhere? that sort of stuff.

cheers bry
