  1. When i walked past one sitting at Paddington the seats in standard looked exactly the same as the units on the ECML just a different colour! But i will know the answer to that on tuesday when i do London to Bristol return. I get the feeling that there is a lot of hate for these units purely due to the fact they ousted or are in the process of ousting HSTs and Mk4 rakes.
  2. there is a lot of over reactions in this thread. I have not tried a GWR set yet but have been up and down the East Coast recently in both First and Standard on the IETs. I had no problem with the comfort in either class and was impressed with the legroom in standard, yes there was a rough ride but over the same stretches the ride was just as rough in the HSTs and Mk4 sets so more an issue with the trackwork than the trains. My only complaint really was when i was on a pair of 5 car 801 sets on a Leeds service, i'm not sure how the air con works but there was a fair bit of what sounded like exterior noise coming from the ceiling area? Bry
  3. I have to say that i really like the new EMR livery, it will look great on the Hitachi units and cascaded Turbostars and Desiros when they are delivered/ cascaded. I understand what you mean about the grey liveries but i think the TfW livery is here to stay along the same lines as the ScotRail livery whereas the livery will no longer change when the operator changes as its defined by The Welsh Assembly. Probably the most striking livery around atm for me is the TransPennine Express livery, it looks great on all their new stock without the yelow ends. Bry
  4. Haha, did they tell you this on the 1st of April by any chance, never herd so much tosh.
  5. Its a trial to provide Solar Power to supply the local Signals and Lighting - nothing to do with the trains ATM. Although the guy behind the trial does seem to have great ambitions to eventually supply about 20% of the third rail power demand through Solar. I hope he is right i would make a good news story for the railway for a change. Bry
  6. There are none named at the moment. If the Scotrail PR Department have anything about them they will wait until the entire heavily delayed fleet is in service before undertaking any naming ceremonies.
  7. I believe there are 3 training sets based at Haymarket, Dundee and Aberdeen. Still no converted Mk3s yet just de-branded ex GWR stock, although there are a couple of Power Cars in the new livery though. Bry
  8. Also Limestone from Thrislington-Mossend late 80s up the ECML presumably for Ravenscraig using an ML Class 37 and about 7 or 8 PTAs Bry
  9. I think 90015 looks more like its sat in Edinburgh Waverley in either the old Platform 10 or 11, to my eyes anyway.
  10. Hi Everyone So just as it says on the tin, I'm hoping that somebody can help me with some interior shots and layouts of the three types of Mk2 Pullman coaches ( Brake, Parlour and Kitchen ) that were used on the Manchester and later Lakeland Pullman. I'm mainly looking for shots when they were in Intercity Executive although any shots whatsoever are most welcome as they seem quite thin on the ground. Thanks in Advance Bry
  11. because 47550 is a 47/4, i presume that is the photo that you are talking about?
  12. Just heard this myself - rather convenient timing. Personally i'm sticking with the LLC model having seen what Heljan churn out for their price tag.
  13. Very Well said Mark, i have to admit that i had a wry giggle at people moaning about the use of Social Media whilst using hmmm Social Media . The idea of a 7mm Class 50 is something that bubbled around on the group for some time, if i remember correctly the lad who has pushed this idea through to reality even mooted it to Heljan and was promptly shot down by being told that a 50 was a complete non-starter. Now as a someone who is usually a solid ScotRail modeller i have verbally committed to several locos to help get the project to fruition. I think that the lad in question on Facebook and the LLC deserve far more credit than is being banded around on this forum. I personally cannot wait to get the Sound Equipped loco's fired up for the first time.
  14. Is it not the lone 107 centre car that was allocated south of the Border for a while? Bry
  15. 47475 didn't carry Regional Railways livery it was in the old Provincial Trans-Pennine which although similar was a different livery. Bry
  16. Looks like the latest Great Western 08 has been released from RVEL in Derby in the new colour scheme.
  17. I believe its a Class 108 car i will have to dig around i may have a car number but the sets were very fluid at the time especially out of Haymarket TMD
  18. I used to really enjoy operating this layout when i was younger, is it no longer with E&LMRC? Bry
  19. Hi Daryl Just noticed this thread, i remember these coaches well as i used to actually change trains at newcastle on journeys from Edinburgh to York to get some Class 47 haulage. The lower bodyside colour on the Trans-Pennine liveried coaches was the same as the Intercity livery on the HSTs, if any of these coaches later in their life carried Regional Railways (RR) livery it would have been after a complete repaint. RR was a totally different livery not just a simple case or re-branding it had a different depth and height to light blue band and the lower panels were alot lighter and silvery, there were quite a few rakes of Mk2s used by scotrail from about 1992/3 onwards in this colour scheme that i have pictures of i will just need to find out which external drive they are on so i can post them. Should be a nice simple repaint job, good luck with this project i look forward to seeing the finished article. I actually thought about doing a rake a while ago but didnt have the courage to chop up some bachy Mk2s to get the Mk2c coaches so i flogged them on eBin instead. Kind regards Bry
  20. must just be me that loves caramel logs - oh well :-)

  21. Hi Flood that BFK looks really good, if you dont mind me asking how many donor coaches did you need for all the pieces as id be interested in doing one of those myself, also what did you use for the compartment interior? cheers bry

  25. Guys if you search fotopic at the moment for 'Inverness' you will come up with a load of photos from late 86/early 87 taken by a guy called Roddy. I have no link with this site just seen the Mk3 Clansman rakes sat in Inverness station and thought of this thread. cheers Bry
