RMweb Premium polybear Posted February 17, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 17, 2019 Just love the cr*p reporting: "The front of the train is even fitted with a smoke box door........" The Daily Mail obviously knows it's stuff

But now I think I need to scrub my browser clean for clicking a daily mail link :p edit: I recall them once describing spitfires as 'wartime jets' Edited February 18, 2019 by GreenGiraffe22
RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted February 18, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 18, 2019 Hmm, I wonder how low Dreweatts reduced their commission rate in order to get the publicity, and the kudos of selling it? The last big large scale auction they ran some years back they didn't charge any seller's commission at all simply in order to snaffle the sale from a competitor, but they jacked up the buyer's commission to compensate. And £200,000 is just the start as their normal commission on hammer prices, including the VAT, works out at 30% on lots up to £500,000. So if the hammer price is £200,000 the buyer will actually pay £260,000 for this engine
