TEAMYAKIMA
I am no DCC expert, and expect that I will never be such, but I am trying my best to get a 'working knowledge' - enough to operate my Digitrax equipped exhibition layout. A problem has arisen and my resident Digitrax expert says that he has never experienced this 'fault' and even my dealer who is a Digitrax specialist is none the wiser. The consensus is that the DB150 is faulty and needs sending back to the USA for repair. The facts 1. I was trying to control a new loco on the r/h knob, but during the process the message 'IdLE' began to flash where the loco number appears 2. Changing handset makes no difference 3. There is no track voltage so the l/h knob is inoperative although the loco number is solid without 'IdLE' flashing. 4. The track power black dot below the r/h knob flashes on/off and was 'off' when this photo was taken. 5. Several solutions have been tried with no effect. These include pressing the 'pwr' key and 'Y+' key I cannot emphasise enough that I have tried two real Digitrax 'enthusiasts' who are totally bewildered by this - and they conclude that the DB150 is faulty. Does anyone have any thoughts?
RMweb Gold franciswilliamwebb Posted February 1, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Have you tried a full reset on the DB150? http://www.digitrax.com/tsd/KB264/db150-reset-instructions/ Edited February 1, 2019 by franciswilliamwebb Added link
TEAMYAKIMA
Hello Francis Thank you for your interest in my problem Yes, had tried various resets under the advice/guidance of my resident Digitrax helper. But this morning I have used the link you kindly provided and went through the steps. I'm using a 402D throttle plugged directly into the DB150 with no loconet or track connections. I selected OP and pressed SWITCH - the screen went to SW 001 = t and would not respond to turns of the knob Paul
RMweb Premium Roger Sunderland Posted February 2, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 2, 2019 Ok. if your be changing the option switches DO NOT use the knobs. With your handset plugged into the DB150 and track power on - select the middle switch position OPT then select switch on the handset. It will show Sw001. All option switches should be set at "t" for factory default except SW4 which should be changed to "c". With SW001 showing press "t". The unit should beep. Now press 2. The screen will show SW002 press "t" again etc etc right through to SW47, the last option. BUT LEAVE OUT OPTIONS 36-39 (I think) - these are reset by a different method - see the manual. This will do a full factory reset and may iron out any problems. However if you have the power dot flashing this could be a simple issue of it not fully powering up the track. My advice before trying the above is. With switch set at run press "power" followed by "n" - the dot should dissapear. set switch to sleep Reset switch to run press power followed by "y"- the track power dot should be constant plus an orange light on front of DB150 if you don't get a constant dot keep pressing power and "y" till you do or repeat above. Many problems with Digitrax are caused by the buttons sticking or malfunctioning. Hope this helps.
