Hi

so I have a Hornby 0-3-0 that I've had for a while, the normal Hornby 0-3-0 chassis. I have another one which runs fine. I’ve cleaned the track, wheels and pickups and it’s still not running. Any thoughts?

A 3 wheeled loco that's original, I presume you mean 0-6-0...

If it's an old loco, it could well be dirt on the commutator. Time to take the body off, and clean it.

Oh yes sorry. 0-6-0. I’ve been taking it apart and t think it’s a dodgy decoder because when I put in a different 4-pin decoder it runs when I touch the pickups on the track. However now that the motor’s back on the chassis it’s not going. Huh.

Some of the Hornby locos with the unique 4 pin decoder sockets I have rewired with a Bachmann 6 pin harness so that you can then fit any 6 pin chip.  I did this with the Sentinel 4wDH and have a mini silver in ir.
