Nick Holliday
Recently discovered a fascinating new archive of aerial photos taken from 1945-2009, run by the Cambridge University Library https://cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/collections/landscapehistories/1 At the moment only 1,800 photos are available, but more are promised. The subject matter is a bit limited, but there are some gems, and the quality is sometimes extremely good. A view of Cambridge station from 1959 will give many people hours of fun, such as delving into the various odd corners of the goods facilities. There are a number of dock scenes from around 1972 that may be of interest. I was surprised as to how much shipping and railway activity is in view, the black and white photos adding to the nostalgia, but I suppose that, since they are getting on for being fifty years old, that is to be expected. There is a reasonable search facility, so enjoy! 3
KeithHC
Hi Nick, thanks for finding that its going to waste a lot of time looking through the site. As a matter of interest there is a link on the above page to the following web site : https://www.cambridgeairphotos.com/ This is a better access to the library.
