2nd Pop up Model Railway Show in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre on the 17th and 18th August 2019 in Unit 24 Walford Walk of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch town centre

This will be open from 0900 until 1730 on Saturday and 1030 until 1630 on Sunday

This totally free event makes use of an otherwise vacant shop unit in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre and will feature a number of working club layouts including one the visitors can operate. There will also be displays on club activities. As it is a free event there will not be any trade support.

There are plenty of car parks accessed from the ring road for the shopping centre and is right next to the town centre rail and bus stations.

Apologies if this sounds patronising, but a great idea, bringing model railways to the masses. There are many vacant shop units in many towns and cities, maybe this could be the future of local exhibitions, not that I'm suggesting that it replaces the larger purpose made shows, but scaling down a little makes it easier on the organisers. Also, just to add a bit of sexism into the equation, a good selection of wife parks are locally available!

I'd just posted about vacant shops to the Gauge O Guild forum, because there was a Shadow minister on TV this morning saying how this should be easier, if not positively encouraged and our Chairman, Mike Bragg, posted the link here.

The display looks professional and enticing, hope it goes really well for you.  Obvious question, how did you get it the space?  Just by asking the Kingfisher Centre management?

Please report back on attendance, etc.  Apart from free access for the public, what did you have to agree to do or not to do?  For a smaller venue, maybe a single retail outlet, what I used to call a shop, opening out onto street, a security guard would be a sensible add-on, but being paid for by entrance fee would probably change the status.  Anyway, there's lots of shopping centres around.  The TV comment was 'targetted' at saving the High St
