Sound decoder without a speaker

I have a sound decoder that is loaded with a diesel  sound but may want to use it in a Pannier - a replacement for a conventional decoder.

Can it be used without the speaker?

Yes but obversely you will not get any sound, it will work as a normal none sound decoder unless you use F1 then it will use the motor settings depending on make of decoder and setup.

I'm assuming its a Zimo or ESU sound decoder not a TTS?

I'd sell that decoder if you can as sound comes new at about £90, unless it was inherited and you don't care, and just buy a £20 ordinary one for the Pannier.

Certainly not TTS, I think it is a Zimo but I may not need to use it as the existing one in the Pannier came to life.
