Chilly
Hi Iain Now back on topic, further question, I have read in a lot of places about CDU's for powering points etc is this not necessary with the z21 and those points/banked decoders mentioned above so nothing at all else required to run the points (no further gadgetry at all)? Thanks Chilly Edited June 3, 2020 by Chilly
WIMorrison
If you use the motors I am suggesting (MP1) then they do not require CDUs, they draw milliamps when operating IIRC, around 20mA If you are buying from dcctrainautomation then ask James to configure the DR4018 for the MTB MP1 motors before he sends them to you, saves a little bit of work. Chilly
I will be going with what you have advised Update - bought 3 DRs and 24MP1's lockdown is hammering my bank account What cable wire do you suggest to link the lot together? Cheers Chilly Edited June 4, 2020 by Chilly
WIMorrison
This is what I use for the majority of wires, except for the DCC Bus for which I use old 1mm mains cable with the red/black (brown/blue) extracted and strung around under the layout. The problem is that the 16/0.2 can become a bit bulky, but you wont get a significant power loss using 16/02 https://www.rapidonline.com/rapid-gw010935-100m-reel-red-16-0-2-wire-01-0935 some people like to use 7/0.2 for dropper cables https://www.rapidonline.com/rapid-gw010435-equipment-wire-red-7-0-2-100m-reel-01-0435
Nigelcliffe
Iain, surely Chilly should buy some low-loss gold directional cable from a posh hifi dealer site ?
Chilly
I get your point but it is a once in lifetime occurrence just trying to ensure that everything gets sorted would that work better than Iain's suggestions Still no track

Don't you know it's the number one cause of trackwork-related issues on model railways. Much fewer problems without it.
Chilly
Your absolutely right and without it I can add the detailing to the loco's front and back and get rid of the nem couplings. Brilliant ! Oops what forum section should this be in
