Trev52A
For many years the passengers on the Tyne & Wear metro crossing the viaduct between Howdon and Hadrian Road stations could look down and see a BR coach (Mk1?) in the grounds of a roofing contractor. Possibly it was in use as an office. I have noticed recently that the buildings have been demolished and the coach has gone. Does anyone know what happened to it? Caledonian
last seen attached to a pub called The Bogie Chain but now transferred to the Aln Valley Railway https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/whats-on/travel-tourism/bogie-chain-pubs-former-train-16238043
Trev52A
@ Stuart (Caledonian) That's it! Many thanks for finding this. Seems there will be a hell of a lot of 'restoration' involved, as part of the body had been removed by the pub! I had recollections of it being part of a pub/restaurant but couldn't recall the name 'Bogie Chain'. The coach still appears on Google Earth maps at present, only being removed earlier this year. Here it is (or was) in relation to the viaduct near Wallsend, appearing bottom right . Also thanks to Wickham Green and balders for their inputs Cheers Trevor Edited September 12, 2019 by Trev52A
