RMweb Gold Re6/6 Posted October 26, 2009 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 26, 2009 A request to engineers out there. Relating to spur gears, what does the measurement of 'module' mean? It's usually indicated by number i.e; 0.5/0.75 module etc:...also the definition of the DP number i.e; 64DP and 100DP (outwardly coarse and fine)...what does it actually mean? Pugsley
Module and DP are related - they're two different ways of expressing the proportions of the gear. This will tell you what you want to know: http://www.roymech.co.uk/Useful_Tables/Drive/Gears.html HTH
