Dapol Imperium CV3 problems

I have purchased a brand new 21pin Imperium decoder but have found that CV3 has no effect on acceleration rate no matter what it is set at. I have tried it in 2 different locos and my system is Lenz. Any ideas would be appreciated?

I had the same in my first 2 (& only) Bachmann decoders. My solution was to use them for lighting only in Hornby DVTs & I will never buy a Bachmann decoder again.

Which specific decoders were they Pete?

Were they decoders made by Lenz, ESU, Soundtraxx or Zimo ?

I am not sure. I have had them for a few years.

I do remember that 1 was a 3 function 8 pin decoder. The other was a 21 pin but I can't remember how many functions it had.

I won't be able to read them back without a motor so I would have to take the bodies off....& the models are packed away in a box somewhere.
