micklner
Just bought these via ebay. I have confirmed so far that they are NER Coaches. I forgot to turn one around for the photo, all have steps at one end and are plain at the other end. The floor etch just has the D&S Logo and all have the same number. No marking anywhere in the Coach bodies. They all have gas Cylinders fitted. I believe they are 7 compt 1st, 8 compt 3rd and a Brake 3rd all 52 feet long. I am trying to find photos/instructions/drawings/running numbers/ roof vent layout for them so they can be completed please. They will be getting new bogies in due course !! Thanks for any assistance. Edited January 28, 2020 by micklner

Nick Holliday
Just had a quick look through the NER carriage diagrams, and there seems to be a problem. Your models look as if they have arc roofs, rather than the more balloon-like elliptical profile. All the arc roof examples seem to be 49 feet long, whilst all the 52 foot ones are definitely elliptically roofed. When you say they are 52 feet long (scale) is that over buffers or over headstocks? micklner
Just identified them via the LNER Forum. Quote "They are D&S 52ft NER carriages, they are all clerestory types: Diagram 18 BT (3) - DS173 Diagram 14 Third - 8 compartments. DS 171 The other is a Diagram 5 Lavatory Composite with 4 First and 3 Third Class compartments. DS172" Many thanks for the replies. Hopefully D&S can supply new etches for the Clerestories upper sections in due course. Unless anybody has some spares ??.
Nick Holliday
The brake third is a slightly different arrangement from the Diagram 18 that I have, with end duckets, but these things didn't always go to plan!
micklner
This is a photo of the poor drawing on a photocopied 2005 D&S Price of DS 173 list, it matches the Brake 3rd I have . Drawing is of the other side of the coach in my earlier photo, the ducket is the right of the Guards door.
micklner
I have also looked at the one NER Clerestory I have already built ,a few years ago. It has the same floor number , again no markings in the body and the sides are identical to the other all 3rd in the above photos .
