Sir TophamHatt
Is there some sort of "depot mode" activated with F3 on Lenz chips? I'm sure it happens with Lenz chips but might be Zimos. When I press F3, I notice the loco slows down a fair amount. The amount it slows is different on different chips - I may have changed some settings somewhere. NIK
Hi, What does your decoder manual say?. Regards Nick
WIMorrison
Yes, by default on Lenz f3 is shunting mode and f4 is direct mode
FoxUnpopuli
Ooh. That sounds useful. Is it available from any other Loco Decoder manufacturers? EDIT: I looked it up, on many of their decoders, Zimo allows the half-speed function to be mapped to a variety of function keys, including F3. Very cool! With ZIMO, from SW version V37.18, CV155 can be used to temporarily set 1/10 speed, 1/2 speed, 2/3 speed or 7/8 speed to any F key you wish. Actually more useful for shunting is the ability to temporarily reduce to 1/4 or remove altogether the values in CVs 3 and 4 to give more precise response to control movements. (CV156). Again, assign to any F key. 'Shunt Mode' in my sound projects combines the reduction in road speed and inertia/momentum on one F key for maximum effect. Works on ZIMO non sound decoders too. Just one of the many benefits of using ZIMO rather than 'cheap' or poorly spec'd decoders which you do not discover until you start using them. There's a reason why the ZIMO Small Decoder manual has around 80 pages. Best regards, Paul Edited February 15, 2020 by pauliebanger 1
Sir TophamHatt
Thanks I thought it would be something along these lines. More fun is my 170 has reds mapped to F3 (F2 on the PA2 isn't latching) using the upgraded lights from Express Models, so it's almost like a loco yard mode with reds and whites displayed!
