RMweb Gold Colin_McLeod Posted April 4, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 4, 2020 Our friend Jayne who runs kennels nearby rescued Taz. This is a poem she wrote about her dog. My Name is Taz I was born on a bright and sunny day When I got a little bigger I was thrown away to run wild and free I lived on my own right next to the sea Every day I would go to the beach The bigger dogs there Would find me and teach Me how to play in the waves In the sea But no one cared Enough to find me I was only small And as black as night When I got bigger Dogs came to fight I was very scared So I ran again No one called me I had no name I had no friends I was all alone But I found a ball I could call my own I played by myself in the waves On the beach Waves kept taking my ball It had gone out of reach Now I knew I would have to swim There was no one to help me as I jumped in I swam and swam On top and under the waves I felt very lonely But knew I must be brave To reach my ball That bounced on the crests It was my only friend I would do my best A little boy came to try to help me But his mummy was calling him Home for tea He stayed by my side and he grabbed my ball He helped me out of the water I am not very tall Then he threw the ball Right back in the sea And I leapt back in And he followed me. Together we played In the great big waves I liked my ball I felt very brave Everyday I looked for the boy To come back But the beach was empty The sky now very black So I curled up round my ball And nestled my head In the deep cold sand That served as my bed Every day after that now with no home When the sun came up I played on my own I'd roll the ball to the waves Then I'd snatch it away I played like that till the end of the day No one noticed this small black dog He played in the rain He played in the fog Then one sunny morning The little boy came again He threw the ball in the waves And I played the game together all day, but it began to rain When the little boy went I searched for him in vain No body wanted a little black dog No one cared that I was lost Will this story end I don't know wait and see How far will I travel To find someone for me My Name is Taz Now I live by the sea And my master calls Me home for tea My story doesn't end here It has only just begun Stay with me and listen There is so much more fun Watch for the ball And the little black dog on the beach See what he does when the balls Out of reach Does he remember The sunny and rainy days When all he had for friends Were the big black waves Did he travel through Europe to find a home Did he know which way to go on alone? And where he lives now Is it really the end Or will he travel again to meet up with his friend Will he sleep on the sand Curled up with his ball Or will he sleep in a blanket In someone's hall Will he find peace when he rests his head Will he have a good home And a nice warm bed Will he have friends to stay for tea Will he run again On the beach Or come home with me?
