Sophia NSE
Quick update on the plank (the diorama, not me! ) The station building will be a small shelter with a path leading up to the overbridge which will be at the camera end Like most things I build it is held together with PVA glue and plenty of tape Pay day tomorrow so I can order myself a bridge and I'll try to remember to get a paper tomorrow to use as a hillside

33C
Or why not go full-on Art Deco station frontage! Black lines and decoupage would keep the depth to a minimum.

I used cereal box card for the girders on mine. Save money for more loco or stock bashing. 1
Artless Bodger
Uralite or High Halstow halts might be as close as you'd get. They look like basic concrete boxes, but a bit pre art-deco. The Southern apparently had big plans for Allhallows in the '30s. http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/u/uralite_halt/ http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/h/high_halstow_halt/ http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/m/middle_stoke_halt/
Sophia NSE
I might have a crack at building a brick bridge and clapboard shelter like the one down at Doleham, not far from me https://www.kentrail.org.uk/doleham_halt.htm I already have the materials to hand so this entire diorama hasn't cost anything extra so far. I might splash out on some hanging basket liner for the greenery surrounding the halt and maybe a couple of paint tester pots for extra ground coverage
Sophia NSE
Here's wot I made during a certain RMWebber's YouTube stream tonight... Its absolutely tiny! 4
Artless Bodger
That's nice, made from Wills sheets by any chance? Size wise it looks about right for the probable number of passengers. Paired with a single oil lamp on a low wooden post, extinguished by the guard of the last train at night?
RMweb Gold BlueLightning Posted July 12, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 12, 2021 Very nice! and the clapboarding seems to all be the right way up Gary

Sophia NSE
Went over to Eastbourne today to annoy Gary (bluelightning) at the shop, where he kindly took a look at the Q1 and actually got it working! (Thanks Gary!) I also came away with a few items Signs and lamp posts for the diorama and some liquid gravity to give the Q1 a bit more front end weight Also picked up some wagons to put to use on Chart Sutton eventually, probably for ragstone from the local quarry
RMweb Gold BlueLightning Posted July 13, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 13, 2021 It was great meeting you and chatting today, and seeing the Q1 up close! I can confirm to everyone that it looks fantastic up close as well as in pictures!! Can't wait to see the wagons once they get repainted!! Sophia NSE
Haha you're too kind. I wouldn't mind getting some Boughton Quarry transfers knocked up for the wagons at some point, and probably a few more wagons
Sophia NSE
Just bagged myself a GBL C class for a new project. I blame you completely @BlueLightning

I blame you completely @BlueLightning Have fun, iirc Viviene Thompson made a C class out of Triang and Hornby Dublo parts years ago, it was in Railway Modeller. I think probably Dublo R1 body parts and a Triang 3F tender loco, but I may be wrong.

Sophia NSE
I had a look on Google and the T class is very close. The bunker on the J72 is a bit bigger, but we seem to be able to live with the R1 model having too large a bunker...
RMweb Gold BlueLightning Posted July 14, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 14, 2021 It is indeed very close, and I now can't find my J72!! but I do have 2 in the shop to tempt you with! I'll take the book with me tomorrow (If I remember, I forgot the O Class again today!) and do the pictures then
