sncf231e
H0 gauge is indeed half of 0 gauge When I mounted extra rails at my gauge 1 track in the garden to be able to run gauge 0 2-rail and 3-rail trains, I noticed afterwards that the middle conductor rail was not precisely in the middle; my homemade drilling jig was not quite OK. However, real H0 trains do not seem to want to run on the "half" track. But today I could get a vintage German H0/00 wind-up train from Beckh running on it after some fiddling: So after 1 gauge, 0 gauge and S gauge I now have H0 gauge in the garden.
