rockershovel
I’d quite forgotten that the Tri-Ang range included a working hopper waggon https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIANG-174421-RED-OPERATING-HOPPER-COAL-WAGON/133413784165?hash=item1f1014ca65:g:orQAAOSwFohewnG- From the lack of buffing gear, I assume it was part of the Transcontinental range 1
Silverfox17
They also did a BR one in grey with the short 4 wheeled open ore wagon like the bottom of the bulk grain wagon. Garry Edited May 23, 2020 by Silverfox17
Ruffnut Thorston
Hi. Yes, this is the bogie hopper wagon, R.111, from the T.C. Transcontinental Series. Made in red, orange, and green. There are other operating hopper wagons. The T.C. Series also includes... Bulk Cement Wagon. A large bogie hopper, with a removable roof. The B.R. Series. Operating Ore Hopper wagon. This was last issued under Hornby Railways, as a Consett Iron Co. Wagon. First in red, then in green. Also released as an ED engineering dept Operating Hopper. First in black, later in green. Most green ones do not have the operating gear. The Ore wagon model was also later issued without the operating gear. Bulk Grain Wagon (the hopper wagon with a removable roof with two sliding hatches, and end ladders). Early models were green, later in grey. The model was later issued without the operating gear. All the operating hopper wagons worked on the same bridge. Most have the large section rail, Standard, Series 3, and Super 4 type. The very last made have code 100, System 6 rails. Later Tri-ang Hornby non-operating hopper wagons were the Tri-ang tooled Whiskey Grain wagons, but without the roof. Trix did the same thing with their Whiskey Grain wagon. But the Trix version has the ends full height, with the roof fitting inside. This photo shews the roof slightly out of position. I haven't found a photo of the Trix open hopper version... Silverfox17
Here is the BR one. I had not realised it was sold with the top as an operating wagon. Garry Edited May 23, 2020 by Silverfox17 1
