RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted July 22, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2020 Brilliant work. The last picture does I think show s the need for the engine block to show. The colours used from the MIR range of rebadged Precsion enamels or ? They do look good regardless. Thanks for showing the build. Robert

Thanks for showing the build. Robert Hi Robert, I used the NIR Dark Blue and Maroon (aka Caribbean Blue and Moroccan Red) colours that are in Phoenix Precision Paint’s current product range. You are right about the engine. I will be fitting the resin one that I have with a chunk cut out of the bottom front to clear the motor bogie and the bottom 5mm removed so it fits under the roof. Seems a shame to remove the nice detail but it wouldn’t have been visible in any case. Cheers Darius Edited July 22, 2020 by Darius43

RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted July 24, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 24, 2020 Darius, A looking good, the engine block looks ok with just a bit chopped of. FWIW how have you secured the roof. I was wondering if possible to slice the old glazing and glue in thus allowing use of roof as intended . What do you think? Robert
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 24, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 24, 2020 (edited) Hi Robert, The roofs are loose fit at the moment. I’ll look into fixing the “clip” parts of the glazing units. Failing that I planned to glue the roofs with pva so that they can be removed if required. RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 26, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 26, 2020 Thanks Robert. I still need to wire up the motor coach power bogie for DCC and weather the underframes. Cheers Darius
RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted July 27, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 27, 2020 (edited) Underframes weathered - practically completed bar the electrics. I have really enjoyed building this model and so I have ordered some etched sides from Worsley Works to build a few more UTA coaches. RMweb Gold Robert Shrives Posted July 27, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 27, 2020 Darius, The light dusting of rail grime does help lift the underframe. Hopefully DCC gubbins etc will fit in roof above engine out of sight. - speaker might be more fun if fitting sound gear. Allen and I have been discussion of a revised window version for a Sealink version and several of the sets getting hopper window changes but stalled on the fundemental bit of the hopper size and thus the dividing bar. As noted also looking at end windows. When mine gets beyond the thinking stage I did wonder about doing 711 as the driver with the more rounded ends. Yours does look the part just need some MPDs to haul around or second power car for freight work! Robert
