Great to see the layout in BRM

The pics Phil took at DEMU show have really come out well.

Great layout which manages the trick of looking far larger than it is due to I imagine much thought being put into its construction, well deserved feature and a pleasure to read. The photos are excellent and show the layout  very well indeed.

All set up at a local show to me in Newcastle Staffs.

Details are on uk modelshops.

Its a charity show in aid of the air ambulance and is on both Saturday and Sunday.

Running in Birmingham mode so it’s Central Trains DMUs.

Hopefully see some of you there.

This weekend Ryecroft Arena will be at the Warrington show details in the exhibition thread of venue and times.

The layout will be running in Manchester guise with units in liveries of the area around the turn of the century.

Hope to see some of you.

Thanks Steve.

I have plans to make Ryecroft Arena into a roundy roundy layout.

The actual layouts scenic section won’t be touched but the two platforms at the front are going to be made into through roads. With the other platform at the back remaining as a bay.

My idea is to fasten the fiddle Yard to the layout and have a fiddle Yard similar to my Lymebrook Yard fiddle yard which are sidings off a loop and trains reverse in and out.

It should also allow more trains to run and one or two maybe loco hauled.

I definitely want to run the voyager as well.

Thinking overall length shouldn’t be much more than what it is now. Obviously the width will increase but when I’ve exhibited it it has been on a 2ft wide table anyway. The current layout is 10 inches wide.

Looking forward to getting started on the modification as I now think it’ll make the layout a lot better.

Conversion into a roundy roundy layout has started.

The track off the fiddle yard was removed along with the points and point motors for reuse.

I had to move the CDU and some connections.

Then it was basically saw the end of the fiddle yard off.

Theres no going back now.

Next job is to open up the other end of the layout using my trusty multi tool.

I spent some time Friday planning on what I intend to do.

Its looking like I’ll get a few extra trains and the overall size of the layout should be about 6x2 feet.

Ive plans for the board for the curve on the shopping centre end to be detachable for transporting purposes.

Thanks Steve.

With the inclement weather outside here yesterday

it gave me chance to put the hole through from the shopping centre end of the layout.

The pic shows the view from the hole up the layout.

A trip to get some wood is next on the agenda.
