Popular Post David Bigcheeseplant
After our trustees meeting last week we have decided to cancel Railex 2021 which should have taken place on the late May bank holiday. with the uncertainty of what restrictions will still be in place next year and the the majority of attendees being in the higher risk groups, it is something we could not risk planning for with an exhibition which is only six months away. We hope to have Railex 2022 depending if the situation improves, obviously we had layouts booked for 2020, 2021 and 2021 once we know we can have a show in 2022 I will contact layouts and see if they still want to attend but it may still be starting afresh in many ways. RMweb Gold Wellyboots Posted November 9, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 9, 2020 An understandable decision considering the current situation we find ourselves in. Looking forward to May '22 with my fingers crossed.
RMweb Premium Paul A Biro Posted November 14, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 14, 2020 May may be a little soon. (The irony is, of course, that we older folk will get the vaccine first....)

On current showing, for every 100 at the event 10 could still be at risk, even if everyone had been vaccinated and if a large proportion are in the more vulnerable age-groups then quite a few of those ten could be at risk of serious illness.

Also assuming of course vaccination isn't compulsory - which I doubt. From a personal standpoint - as of Nov/Dec 2020 - I wouldn't go within spitting distance of an exhibition until things change very significantly. I certainly wouldn't exhibit or man a trade stand. I sincerely hope things do improve but weren't we saying that back in April... yet here we are. Apologies for the negativity but I believe we wont see any exhibitions in 2021.
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted November 25, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 25, 2020 Railex is a shining beacon among exhibitions, but the age-profile of the patrons is terrifyingly high. The trustees' decision for 2021 is utterly correct. Politicians and others are very optimistic about vaccine progress, but we still await the actual rollout. Cutting a swathe through the UK's most experienced hobbyists would be a ghastly mistake. 2
