RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted May 6, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 6, 2021 I'm due to start adding the fencing to my O gauge diorama. The fencing I am going to use is scalemodelscenery posts with wire, can someone advise me on spacing of fence posts in mm please.
mikeg
Kevin it all depends on the company and ground conditions, I generally use 70mm for flat areas and 42mm if on a sloping site, I model the Southern as it’s where I lived until I was 24 but I think most of the big 4 used used similar post and wire fencing out in the country areas. regards Mike
doilum
Assuming this is wooden post and rail fencing, the posts would be determined by the lengths of "rail" available. Ten foot rails would be at a scale 70mm but this is a long length of unsupported timber. Eight foot tails would be more practical at a scale 56mm spacing. A quick internet search suggests that rails should be twelve feet (,_3.6m,) with an intermediary post at six feet or ,,,1.8m . So this would be a scale 42mm.
