While our train was cantering through Sonning Cutting on the down relief, a crescendo of sound announced green-liveried D7005 thundering past on the down main.   The three 43's and D7021 were visible in the Con Yard at Swindon.   The six Hymeks marked with asterisks were in store at Canton.    Stopped for signals just outside Reading on the return journey we could see, and certainly hear, a Warship accelerating away on the B&H with empty milk tanks.  Due to the fading light and distance away we could not see the number,  but subsequently identified as 825.     Apart from the four Hydraulics at Swindon and the stored Hymeks, nothing seen that day was out of the ordinary, that's how it was back then........   Neil

4 years later TOPS numbers everywhere but still that 70s magic. A day trip on The St Pancras - Manchester through train, (probably some cheap fare deal)...Happy days!
