Fordwich colliery- a slice of Kent coalfield in a narrowboat in Oxfordshire...

Recommended Posts

I look forward to seeing more of this. I grew up in Sturry and know Fordwich well. Chislet had closed a couple of years before I was born, but there was still plenty of evidence of the colliery for many years. If I stand on my head that engine shed looks very much like Snowdown's.

Thank you! I measured Snowdown shed, counted the bricks and made a drawing,  the toothed bricks were a sod to do, I spent many a happy hour there mid 70s, been wanting to do this for a very long time ( probably since the arrival of the lima 09!)

Former resident of Aylesham here! Looking forward to seeing this. If you have a problem with pics posting upside down, one way of correcting that is (normally) make a tiny edit on your device - the slightest of crops - and then post the edited version. That usually fixes the issue. Good luck!
