MRC_Jacob
Hello! So here we have Redwater TCD, a DMU and loco light servicing depot. I'm wondering if this kind of depot layout would have signalling, if it does, what would it have and where? All help apreciated! Thanks!
SZ
No signals. I think all of that would lie beyond a stop board (Stop and Await Instructions) on a reception track somewhere to the right. Edited May 30, 2021 by SZ 2
TonyMay
No signals, but the point needs a means of operating it, probably a trackside point lever rather than a ground frame. 2
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted June 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 5, 2021 Signalling would be a ground position light at the exit from the depot, protecting the running lines, and a stop board on the incoming reception road. Both these are likely to be beyond the scenic break bridge on this layout, but the stop board might be visible, as it will be far enough 'in' for a dmu to clear the running lines and allow the inlet point to be reset for running line traffic. It might have a phone alongside it, so that incoming drivers can contact the depot foreman in his office for instructions as to where the loco/unit is to be stabled. The little mainenance shed needs a walkway, probably concrete, across the entrance, which will incur the foreman's wrath if you leave a loco afoul of it...
