My friend has a twin track 00 Layout with a gaugemaster twin track controller (Non wall mounted), but he plans on adding a third loop to the layout, does he have to buy a new controller to be able to add the third track or can an extra controller be connected, if so how can this be done?.

The answer depends on how the owner wishes to operate the layout. If 3 trains are required to be run at once, then 3 controllers, each with their own power supply are required.

In only 1 or 2 trains need to operate at once, then some form of block control can be used. That enables selection of a particular controller, to a section of track.

He plans on being able to run three trains at once.
