Sprinter150
Hello First post! Getting back into modelling after over 15 years, I’ve gone from analogue OO to DCC ‘N’ gauge! Just a question; I’ve purchased the following (not from Hattons) https://www.hattons.co.uk/31844/dapol_nd114b_class_153_dmu_153377_in_regional_railways_livery_motorised_/stockdetail Now it’s says DCC ready but requires a 6 pin socket what exactly is required, does it need a socket and decoder? I’ve just ordered this, is this correct? Is it quite easy to insert? https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/decoder-harness-zen-6-pin-plug-nem651-6-pin-socket-3-pack/ Thanks for the help! RMweb Gold RFS Posted November 20, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 20, 2021 The Hatton's page says it is DCC ready with a 6-pin socket. This will have a blanking plug fitted to enable the unit to run on DC. For DCC you just need to purchase a suitable 6-pin decoder and plug that into the socket in place of the blanking plug. Sprinter150
Great, so I’d need something like this then? https://www.hattons.co.uk/18556/lenz_digital_10311_02_6_pin_2_function_2_sided_0_5_0_8a_silver_mini_decoder/stockdetail Thanks for the quick reply! And sorry for posting in the wrong forum bit, didn’t see the dedicated DCC section.
jpendle
Or better still a Zimo MX617N for 20 quid. https://www.coastaldcc.co.uk/products/zimo/mx617n There are other suppliers in the UK. Regards, John P
jpendle
Oh and cancel the Zen decoder harness order, you won't need them for any UK outline N Gauge DCC ready model. Regards, John P
Sprinter150
Perfect, thanks. I’m new to DCC, it’s a bit daunting and confusing but from what I’ve experienced so far 100% worth it! Thanks for the advice.
