I was lucky enough to visit a family friend in Austria when I was 16 - first flight, Student Travel, Dan-Air Comet, learning french at school and not german. All alone. However the family I stayed with looked after me well, visiting various places, and arranging a trip on the Danube on a police launch. Highlight for me was a trip up the Schneeberg on the rack railway. Instamatic camera and Kodak slide film.
