Vanguard 5374
Having decided I want to have a model of Lion, yet have no real interest in modelling Era 1 or wanting to spend a decent sum of money on a model that I will not really use, I’ve gone ahead with creating a model that will use common parts. So far it looks like this, and when it produces a working model I’ll put the files on Thingiverse so that others can download it and make their own. I may end up altering the model to represent Lion as it probably would have looked, and then adapt it further into a representation of similar locomotives of the time and type. I won’t lie, it will not be to the same standards as a ready to run model but for my needs it is good. Having worked from a set of scale drawings here is the model so far:
woko
Are you going to Market it as 'Inspired by The Titchfield Thunderbolt' as well as Hornby

Vanguard 5374
Little bit of further work tonight, I've ordered the donor driving wheels and motor so will await them before continuing with the chassis design. Files will be available from this page when complete: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5197614

Vanguard 5374
Basic shape is getting there, once all of the non 3D printed parts arrive I can start to work out how to do the chassis and get it running. Think at this stage I will do the locomotive first, and then create the tender afterwards.
Vanguard 5374
More slow progress, I think I have managed to order all of the mechanical parts, so once they are here I can alter the CAD files to suit and then proceed with printing the model parts.
